Several times over the last few months, I’ve either been a participant in, or observer to, situations in which an individual felt free to lash out with a personal attack when faced with a point of view they didn’t support. They went directly to the I am right and you are wrong space.
Their actions, comments, and responses certainly flew in the face of Aristotle’s debate counsel in Rhetoric that one must make one’s case without meanness.
From my perspective, opposing arguments and contrarian opinions are the spice of life—not something to browbeat into silence or submission.
So this was the topic I decided to address in my monthly Lead Change Group post…hope you enjoy it!
