Many times in life, love and leadership, the small things are really big things.
Sometimes for us, sometimes for others.
We get so busy with the busyness of life that we forget to make or take time for the small things.
Often, it’s those small things that make life more enjoyable, productive, meaningful, connected, special.
So, remember, if you’re caught up in the hamster wheel of activity, take a breath, read the following list and then work these items into your schedule today (and tomorrow and every day thereafter).
Kind words, kind looks, kind acts, and warm handshakes-these are means of grace when men in trouble are fighting unseen battles. ~John Hall
Do it for yourself—and those you like and love, as well as those you are trying to know better!
10 small BIG things to remember to do today
1. Tell someone thank you.
2. It’s better to give than receive.
3. Smile at everyone who looks like they need a pick-me-up.
4. Reconnect with an old friend.
5. Tell yourself you have lots to offer the world…and believe it.
6. Offer to share what you know with someone…you’ll both benefit.
7. Take 10 minutes just for you to recharge, think, read, or stare out the window.
8. Let go of thinking someone owes you.
9. Give yourself permission to try…and to fail.
10. Reach out to a young person: laugh with them, sing a song, tell a story, kick a soccer ball, eat an ice cream cone—invest in their happiness (and yours, too).
The world is always going to be dangerous, and people get badly banged up, but how can there be more meaning than helping one another stand up in a wind and stay warm? ~Anne Lamott

Hi Jane,
I am so happy I found this blog! Your content is just what I’ve been looking for, as it inspires me! As for this post I believe we are most effective in our lives and especially at completing our goals, by consistently performing the daily tasks and “little things” that by themselves may seem insignificant, but cumulatively add up to success. The little things ARE the big things, and can be so simple, yet very powerful.
Hi, Laura!
Welcome to LeadBIG… big smiles and bigger thanks for your kind words. Your observation that “little things” are cumulative, simple and powerful is just spot-on. Appreciate you furthering the discussion.
Well, first thing to remember when one reads something so simply beautiful, is to say loudly how much you liked it.
I DID LIKE THE POST IMMENSELY.
Second thing to be done is to spread the good word/work.[I will forward the post through my Linked In update.]
The last, but certainly not the least, that I do when I like what I read, these days, is to either take up that piece for translation into Gujarati and / or support the writing by adding a meaningful comment [if the matter is online] or attempt to put down on my own blog what I liked about what I read. [I will take up this article for translation , for which I would separately move my proposal for granting the permission.]
Ashok – I’m delighted that you enjoyed the simplicity of my heartfelt message and wish to share it…thank you. Please do translate it into Gujarati and spread the message!
What folks on Twitter are saying:
Justin Romack (@justinromack): I needed that this morning – thanks! #3 and #4 are definitely resonating with me.
@novologic says: luv #8 – No one owes you anything.
@danielnewmanUV thinks: Nice
@tracybarrynews: Especially good today
@Defree says: I love it
